Terms of Use
Last updated: June 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using R Observatory (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Site.
2. Data and Content Ownership
R Observatory reformats and presents information that is already publicly available from the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN) and related sources, including package metadata, version history, check results, and download statistics. Packages, their source code, and their documentation remain the property of their respective authors and are governed by their own licenses and by CRAN’s policies. R Observatory claims no ownership over package content.
3. Use of the Site
The Site is provided for informational and research purposes. Automated bulk scraping of the Site is discouraged; the underlying structured data is published openly through the project’s GitHub repositories, which is the preferred way to obtain it at scale.
4. No Warranty
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Data is sourced from CRAN and other public sources and may be incomplete, delayed, or contain errors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of the Site or its data, and rely on the data presented here at your own discretion.
5. Advertising
The Site displays advertisements through Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. Ad content is selected and managed by Google and its partners; it is not reviewed or endorsed by the operators of the Site. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies are used.
6. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
7. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be directed to the project maintainers via GitHub Issues at github.com/r-observatory.
