A dependency free interface to the H3 geospatial indexing system utilizing the Rust library 'h3o' https://github.com/HydroniumLabs/h3o via the 'extendr' library https://github.com/extendr/extendr.

Install

R (CRAN)pak (dev)Ubuntu (r2u)

install.packages("h3o", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Development version from extendr/h3o. Installs pak first if it is not already available.

Release

  || curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/eddelbuettel/r2u/master/inst/scripts/add_cranapt_noble.sh | sudo bash
sudo apt install -y r-cran-h3o

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
