Provides an interface to the system-level 'grep' utility for efficiently reading, filtering, and aggregating data from multiple flat files. By pre-filtering data at the command line before it enters the R environment, the package reduces memory overhead and improves ingestion speed. Includes functions for counting records across large file systems and supports recursive directory searching.

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

sudo apt install -y r-cran-grepreaper

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-grepreaper

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
