The Occluded Surface (OS) algorithm is a widely used approach for analyzing atomic packing in biomolecules as described by Pattabiraman N, Ward KB, Fleming PJ (1995) doi:10.1002/jmr.300080603. Here, we introduce 'fibos', an 'R' and 'Python' package that extends the 'OS' methodology, as presented in Soares HHM, Romanelli JPR, Fleming PJ, da Silveira CH (2024) doi:10.1101/2024.11.01.621530.

Install

R (CRAN)Ubuntu (r2u)Fedora (COPR)openSUSE (OBS)

install.packages("fibos", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

ls /etc/yum.repos.d/*iucar*cran*.repo >/dev/null 2>&1 \
  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-fibos

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
