The need for anonymization of individual survey responses often leads to many suppressed grid cells in a regular grid. Here we provide functionality for creating multi-resolution gridded data, respecting the confidentiality rules, such as a minimum number of units and dominance by one or more units for each grid cell. The functions also include the possibility for contextual suppression of data. For more details see Skoien et al. (2025) doi:10.48550/arXiv.2410.17601.

Install

install.packages("MRG", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

ls /etc/yum.repos.d/*iucar*cran*.repo >/dev/null 2>&1 \
  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-MRG

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
