Provides generic data structures and algorithms for use with forest mensuration data in a consistent framework. The functions and objects included are a collection of broadly applicable tools. More specialized applications should be implemented in separate packages that build on this foundation. Documentation about 'ForestElementsR' is provided by three vignettes included in this package. For an introduction to the field of forest mensuration, refer to the textbooks by Kershaw et al. (2017) doi:10.1002/9781118902028, and van Laar and Akca (2007) doi:10.1007/978-1-4020-5991-9.

Install

R (CRAN)Ubuntu (r2u)Fedora (COPR)openSUSE (OBS)

install.packages("ForestElementsR", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

# enable cranapt (r2u) if it is not already set up, then install

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

# enable the iucar/cran COPR if it is not already present, then install
ls /etc/yum.repos.d/*iucar*cran*.repo >/dev/null 2>&1 \
  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-ForestElementsR

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
